The theme for this year's program "Unarmed Truth:" The Blueprint for Lasting Change" hosted on January 17, 2011 at the Concordia University. Keynote speaker Robin Hickman is President of SoulTouch, a Saint Paul Independent TV/Film Producer, Social Impact Activist and Community Engagement consultant.

A bill to adopt the federal holiday in Minnesota was introduced to the Minnesota Legislature by Rep. Randolph Staten. The measure was signed into law in January 1986.
